Nothing has changed. Nothing has changed with where we’re headed this week. Brock is our starter this week, and we’re all-in getting ready for San Diego. We are week-to-week and doing everything we can to win the next football game. Absolutely nothing has changed.”

Kubiak’s words help the Broncos save face with Manning supporters, keeps the quarterback content for the time being and does not put unnecessary pressure on Osweiler who makes his third career start come Sunday at San Diego.

“I mean I can’t speak for the players. You can ask them the question, but I can tell you right now, we talk every day, ” said Kubiak of situation. “They know exactly what we’re doing. Peyton knows exactly that we’re trying to get him as healthy as we possibly can and myself and [trainer Steve Antonopulos] and everybody. We’ve got other players, too, that we’ve got in the same position. Brock knows that he’s the starting quarterback for this team this week.”

Sooner or later Manning will believe he is healthy enough to play. At that point the Broncos will have to make a decision of exactly what to do. If Osweiler continues to perform as he has in wins over Chicago and New England it will be difficult – if not impossible – for Kubiak and his staff to turn back to Manning.

The situation in Denver figures to eventually turn ugly but then again the writing has been on the wall for months when the team hired Kubiak who runs an offense completely different than the one the 39-year-old has ever run. Manning took a pay cut and then requested a no-trade clause in the offeseason both of which could very well become an issue when Manning feels he is healthy enough to return to the field.

Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak is disputing a report which circulated on Wednesday calling Brock Osweiler the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.
