Clausen is looking to restart a career that flamed out after being selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. After a tough rookie season he was replaced by Cam Newton in Carolina and then missed the 2013 season with injury.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now, we\u2019re going to have Jimmy relieve Jay,\u201d Bears coach Marc Trestman said. \u201cHe\u2019ll have the shot whenever Jay comes out of the game, whenever that is. But both of them will play. <\/p>\n
Jordan Palmer had been listed as the No. 2 quarterback with the Bears but things have flip flopped following the preseason opener.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re both making plays [in practice],\u201d Trestman said. \u201cThey are both competing. I\u2019ve told both of them that nothing is set in stone from last week. We grade them every day and we\u2019re watching all the tape. We\u2019re making the corrections with each of them, and it\u2019s still a competition. They know it and we\u2019re [dividing up the reps] that way.\u201d <\/p>\n
The younger brother of Arizona signal caller Carson Palmer, Jordan Palmer entered the first preseason game late in the first quarter. Palmer did nothing to hurt his chances of losing the job completing 8 of 11 passes for 104 yards, one touchdown and one interception.<\/p>\n
However Clausen grabbed the headlines going 7-of-13 for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns.<\/p>\n
