Maybe there is a competition for the starting quarterback job with the Cleveland Browns after all.<\/p>\n

According to the Akron-Beacon Journal<\/a>, “Manziel appears to have narrowed the gap between himself and Hoyer with his performance in the scrimmage.”<\/p>\n

Thus far the Browns have been playing Manziel with the second team offense while incumbent Brian Hoyer remains with the first team offense.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe made a couple nice runs, made some nice throws,\u201d head coach Mike Pettine said about the recent performance of Manziel. \u201cWhere most quarterbacks would step out of bounds, he got two completions there.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the end it all comes down to getting into the endzone for the Browns.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to convert when we get into the red zone,\u201d Pettine said. \u201cThe field gets tight there. The defense can take some chances, and they did and that\u2019s something we\u2019re going to get a lot of work on.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
