Derek Carr fell to the Oakland Raiders at No. 36, now he is pressing for the teams starting quarterback role.<\/p>\n

Carr has been receiving rave reviews from the Raiders coaching staff and the leash of Matt Schaub – who the Raiders traded for prior to the draft – is getting shorter and shorter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really, really like him,\u201d offensive coordinator Greg Olson said of Carr via the San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>. \u201cEverybody knew he was accurate, but he is more accurate than we thought. \u2026 We\u2019ll have to wait and see how he does against a live rush, but so far his intelligence, accuracy and quickness in getting the ball out has been excellent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last season the Raiders had a trio of quarterbacks under center with Matt Flynn, Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin all seeing action.<\/p>\n

While all signs point to Matt Schaub being the Raiders quarterback to open the season head coach Dennis Allen made sure to note that \u201ceverything is written in pencil\u201d which does not place a ton of confidence behind him. Schaub had a pretty good run in Houston end last season when he threw 14 interceptions in 10 games including a wild string of pick-sixes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
