San Francisco 49rs running back Marcus Lattimore sat out the entire 2013 season following a gruesome knee injury that ended his college career at South Carolina.<\/p>\n

The 49ers took a chance drafting Lattimore in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft knowing he would not be ready to contribute. That did not bother the team as they had a depth chart stuffed with running backs, a year later that chart is still strong as\u00a0Lattimore is ready to take the field.<\/p>\n

“I’ll probably be pouring out in tears, man, to tell you the truth,” he said, via the San Jose Mercury News<\/a> when asked about suiting up for the 49ers. “I was just hoping to walk again.”<\/p>\n

But the line in the story – which was largely about Lattimore over coming injury – that will catch eyes is the question as to whether or not he is 100-percent recovered.<\/p>\n

Lattimore concedes that he still lacks the first-step burst, the explosiveness through the hole, that once helped him rush for 1,197 yards with 17 rushing touchdowns as a freshman at South Carolina. Lattimore suspects that part won’t come back until he’s on the field again and gets the adrenaline boost that comes from being chased by a defender.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That statement comes across as odd considering everything regarding Lattimore for the last few months had\u00a0suggested he was ready to play.<\/p>\n

Lattimore will be ready for snaps behind Frank Gore but will find himself\u00a0batteling Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James for snap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
