The Baltimore Ravens will not need to use the franchise tag on tight end Dennis Pitta.
On Friday the two sides reached agreement on a five-year extension worth $32 million. The deal will be worth $6.4 million a season and places Pitta in the top half of tight ends in contract value.
Dennis Pitta's five-year contract is worth $32 million, according to a league source.

The re-signing of Pitta will allow the Ravens to focus on offensive lineman Eugene Monroe.
Pitta missed the start of the 2013 season after suffering a hip injury. He came back for the teams final four games and caught 20 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. Joe Flacco will be relieved to have Pitta as a target for the 2014 season.
