Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett made it clear that he was not willing to take a hometown discount to stay with the Super Bowl champs.

“There is no such thing as discount. This is not Costco, this is not Walmart – this is real life…There is no discount really because you go out there and you don’t give a discount on effort; you go out there and you give the best effort every day and you fight for your teammates, and you want to be compensated for the way that you perform and the kind of teammate you are.” said Bennett (via Seattle Times) on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access.

While Bennett, 28, has expressed a desire to stay in Seattle, these comments make it clear that he wants the best deal available. He has a 50/50 chance of returning to the Seahawks in 2014.

Bennett had 8.5 sacks with 31 tackles and a fumble recovery in 2013.
