Cowboys deny Browns request to interview Bill Callahan for OC duties

The Dallas Cowboys have denied a request by the Cleveland Browns to interview Bill Callahan for their vacant offensive coordinator job according to the Dallas Morning News.

This comes just a day after the Cowboys hired former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to “call plays.” Many see the hire of Linehan as a way of taking control away from Callahan. It’s unlikely Callahan would welcome a demotion to the role of an offensive line coach, but his title as offensive coordinator may just be in name only.

The Cowboys had a similar situation on the defensive side of the ball as they opted to keep Rod Marinelli on staff, even as Tampa Bay was reportedly interested in signing him to a contract to be their defensive coordinator.
