Redskins defeat Giants 17-16 at FedEx Field

“We won the game. That’s all that matters” said Robert Griffin III after the Redskins pulled off an upset of the NFC East leading Giants.

With Monday nights win the Washington Redskins remain in contention for a NFC Wild Card spot and still have a chance to win the NFC East at 6-6. The loss drops the Giants to 7-5.

The Giants were a three point favorite entering the game. The over/under or total points was set at 50 for the contest.

New York won the contest between the two teams in Week 7, thus the two teams end with a split series this season.

The stats for both teams were close but the Giants dominated in two categories, time of possession and penalties.

Alfred Morris finished with 124 yards rushing for the Redskins, Griffin added another 72
