Browns could re-sign Miles Austin, hire Kevin O’Connell

The Browns could bring back Miles Austin next season.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer seems to believe that Austin will be back following a season in which he caught 47 passes for 568 yards and two touchdowns. Austin ended the season on injured reserve but the Browns are again in a crisis at wide receiver with Josh Gordon facing a year long suspension for the 2015 season.

With Gordon and tight end Jordan Cameron out of the picture the Browns will need to find someone to catch passes from Johnny Manziel or whoever is their quarterback next season.

The Browns have also hired Kevin O’Connell as their quarterbacks coach. O’Connell worked with Manziel leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft and while he has no coaching experience he was an NFL backup quarterback from 2008-12.

Larry Foote considering retirement

Free agent Larry Foote is said to be considering retirement.

Foote, 34, spent the 2014 season with the Cardinals making 84 tackles in 15 starts. On the free agent market he figures to get nothing more than a look as a backup and may find it hard to make a team’s 53-man roster. The Cardinals could end up signing Foote to their coaching staff if he does hang it up.
