NFL Playoff Picture after Sunday of Week 16

There is only one Week 16 game left and then Week 17. Time is running out for the playoffs.

Most of the excitement for the playoffs is on the AFC side as the only spot up for grabs in the NFC is the South Divisional championship which will be decided in the contest between the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers.

The NFC is set with the Seahawks, Cowboys, Cardinals, Packers and Lions all claiming spots. Their seeding is up for grabs however with only the Cardinals guaranteed to not receive a first round bye.

The AFC is wide open.

Guaranteed to be playing in the playoffs are the Patriots, Broncos, Colts and Steelers.

Two spots are up for grabs.

Guaranteed to be playing in the playoffs are the Patriots, Broncos, Colts and Steelers.

The Chargers can make the playoffs by winning in Week 17 against the Chiefs.

The Bengals can make the playoffs by winning the AFC North. Their contest with the Broncos is shaping up to be a dud because they would still need to defeat the Steelers in order to claim the division. (due to their tie with the Panthers). One win to close out the year puts them in the playoffs.

The Ravens need to defeat the Browns and have the Chargers lose to the Chiefs. (The Charges defeated the Ravens earlier this year and hold the tie breaker)

The Texans playoff hopes are slim. They need a win over the Jaguars in Week 17. A Chiefs win over the Chargers and a Ravens loss to the Browns.

Confused yet? There will be a test on Friday.
