Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III left Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with nine minutes left in the first quarter with an undisclosed ankle injury. The injury happened when Griffin was scrambling out of bounds and fell without contact from a defender.

Griffin appeared to be in a lot of pain and stayed down on the sideline for a long time while being examined by Dr. James Andrews. He was carted off the field and will not return.

Kirk Cousins came on and promptly threw a 20-yard touchdown on his first attempt.

The injury appears to be to Griffin’s left ankle. He was in an air cast when he left the field.
