Chris Long will undergo surgery on his left ankle and miss the next several weeks, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher announced on Wednesday.

Long is expected to miss the next 8-10 weeks which would place him out until November and other further adds to the injury woes of the Rams who began the season without quarterback Sam Bradford.

Long was injured in the third quarter of a 34-6 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. His ankle was rolled up on a rushing attempt by Adrian Peterson.

Long, the second overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has 33 sacks since 2011.

Shaun Hill not practicing

Things are not much better on the offensive side of the ball for the Rams. Quarterback Shaun Hill did not practice Wednesday and while Fisher defended the 34-year-old quarterback on Tuesday his status going forward is unclear.

If Hill is indeed unable to go against the Buccaneers then Austin Davis will get the start.
