Jaguars rule Cecil Shorts out for opener against Eagles

The Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled wide receiver Cecil Shorts out for their regular season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Shorts will not travel with the Jaguars due to tightness in his left hamstring. Previously the Jaguars had listed Shorts as questionable. This will mark the 12th game that Shorts has missed since being a fourth round pick of the Jaguars in 2011.

The Jaguars are laughably thin at receiver. Of the four active players on their roster only one has a catch in his NFL career in Mike Brown. Marquise Lee, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns round out the Jaguars targets.

A season ago Shorts caught 66 passes for 777 yards and three touchdowns.
