The Buffalo Bills have selected their team captains for the 2014 season and the most notable obmission is quarterback E.J. Manuel.
Earning the right to wear the captain patch on their jersey were linebacker Brandon Spikes, defensive tackle Kyle Williams, defensive end Mario Williams and center Eric Wood.
On Friday the Bills signed veteran journeyman Kyle Orton to a $5 million contract for the season. Orton will be listed behind Manuel on the depth chart.
The absence of the letter C on Manuel’s jersey is an indication that the Bills locker room, as well as its coaching staff, are not firmly behind the No. 16 pick from a season ago.
