Anthony Spencer hoping to avoid PUP list

Dallas Cowboys defensive end is unsure of when he will return to the football field but still remains hopeful that he will avoid the reserve/PUP list to start the season.

“I haven’t plateaued yet,” Spencer said. “My body is responding really well to the things we’re doing, so we’re just going to continue to do them.”

Spencer is coming back from microfracture surgery on his left knee after playing just one game last season.

Spencer is highly doubtful to be ready for Week 1 against San Francisco and unless the Cowboys believe he will return in the first three or four games would seem almost certain to start the season on the PUP list.
