The Carolina Panthers have signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback/wide receiver Joe Webb to a one-year contract.
Webb, 27, will join the Panthers as a quarterback behind Cam Newton on the depth chart.
Last season Webb played as a wide receiver while he has not thrown a pass since 2012. Webb caught five passes for 33 yards last season.
The Panthers currently have Derek Anderson and Matt Blanchard signed to deals in addition to Newton.
As a passer Webb has completed 57.9-percent of his passes for 853 yards over parts of 33 games. He has three touchdowns and five career interceptions.
