Free agent DT Henry Melton and his agent are making it known that he would not mind working with former Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Rob Marinelli.

Marinelli was recently promoted to the role of Cowboys defensive coordinator after choosing to leave the Bears at the end of the 2012 season. During his time in Chicago, Melton recorded 15.5 sacks from 2010=2012.

“Henry’s from Dallas, he played for [Marinelli], obviously there would be interest from Henry’s side, but who knows at this point?” Melton’s agent Jordan Woy said, via ESPN.

Melton is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but his agent is doing all he can to sell the Cowboys.

“He’s back to running and doing really well,” Woy said. “He’s sprinting and stuff, so he’s kind of at the same time frame as [Anthony Spencer, around training camp for a return] or maybe a little earlier.”

The Cowboys do not currently have any cap space, but there are reports that the futures of DeMarcus ware and Jason Hatcher are not certain. The Cowboys could rid themselves of either player via release or trade. Such a move would be required if the Cowboys were to make a play at any significant free agents.
