Redskins keeping Jim Haslett, promote Sean McVay

The Washington Redskins appear ready to blame all of their struggles from 2013 on former head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

While the Redskins gave new head coach Jay Gruden a five-year deal they will keep Jim Haslett as their defensive coordinator and promote Sean McVay to the role of offensive coordinator.

The Redskins ranked 30th in defense a year ago and while people questioned the offensive scheme, the Redskins were often too far behind early in the game to fight back.

Haslett has been the defensive coordinator of the Redskins since 2010.

McVay, 27, has never held the rank of offensive coordinator at any stops. He was the tight ends coach a year ago.
