Leon Lett’s Thanksgiving Day gaffe still lives on (video)

Twenty years ago this week Leon Lett became the biggest Thanksgiving Day turkey, of all time.

It was during a game against the Miami Dolphins that Lett was involved in one of the most infamous plays of all-time. A close game between two good teams ended when Pete Stoyanovich had a kick blocked at the end of the game, or so we thought.

Enter Leon Lett who made contact with the ball allowing the Dolphins to recover and re-kick. This time Stoyanovich’s kick ended up between the uprights and the Dolphins left with a 16-14 win.

While the play will live in in the minds of football fans everywhere, the Cowboys can take solace in the fact that they went on to win the Super Bowl that season. Even with Leon Lett on the team.
