If a recent report by TMZ is to be believed the Washington Redskins may already have a new nickname in mind.

Regardless of what Redskins owner Daniel Synder says about the team’s nickname, It seems inevitable that the Redskins nickname will be dropped in the near future.

TMZ reported the following:

Redskins owner Dan Snyder lives in Potomac, Maryland, a few doors down from a very rich dude, Aris Mardirossian. Aris, a wealthy patent investor, registered the name, WASHINGTON BRAVEHEARTS on October 17th. According to the Trademark application, obtained by TMZSports, Aris plans to use the name for “Entertainment in the nature of football games.”

Mardirossian also formed an LLC and registered the domain name washingtonbravehearts.com but thus far neither of those indicate anything other then registering.

When reached by TMZ for comment the Redskins denied that Snyder and Mardirossian knew each other. When told they live near each other the team declined comment.
