The New York Jets have signed veteran kicker Billy Cundiff to a contract.

Cundiff, 33, appeared in five games for Washington last season making just 7-of-12 attempts. After his release from the Redskins he was signed by San Francisco but did not play.

In 2011 Cundiff missed a crucial field goal in the AFC Championship game between Baltimore and New England which would have tied the game. The Ravens replaced him with Justin Tucker in 2012.

The Jets hosted Cundiff as well as receivers Austin Collie and Laurent Robinson for workouts yesterday.

Cundiff will be in training camp to push Nick Folk for the starting job. In order to make room for Cundiff on the roster the Jets waived kicker Brett Maher.
