The New York Jets have released backup quarterback Tim Tebow. New York had attempted to trade Tebow prior to last weeks draft but found no suitors.
Releasing Tebow will save the Jets just over $1 million and will trim their roster to five quarterbacks.
On day two of the draft the Jets selected Geno Smith with their second round pick.
Last season Tebow rarely saw the field after the Jets devised a wild cat formation for him. Tebows biggest contributions came on special teams.
