The 49ers are coming off of a game against Green Bay in which they dominated the second half. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was able to run for 181 yards on the ground in addition to throwing for over 250 yards.

Things figure to be a little tougher against the Falcons but do not expect the 49ers to change their game plan all too much. How effective defensive lineman John Abraham, who “re-tweaked” his ankle injury on Sunday, will be figures to be one of the keys to this game.

Matt Ryan and Mike Smith finally won a playoff game. Yet, the monkey on their back got heavier. The Falcons tied for the best record in the NFL at 13-3 but are underdogs at home in the NFC title game.

Last week the Falcons stormed out to a 20 point lead against Seattle only to see conservative defense and an errant throw allow the Seahawks to take a late lead. The Falcons pulled it together and won the game but they face another tough defense in the 49ers. Michael Turner had plenty of success last week despite slowing down as the regular season went on.

The 49ers will look to stop Turner in his tracks and then allow their ground game of Frank Gore and Kaepernick to pile on the points.
