It will be KC instead of RG3. The Washington Redskins announced via Twitter that rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins would get the nod for Sunday’s tilt in Cleveland. Cousins will start in place of Robert Griffin III who suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain in last weeks win against Baltimore.

“The decision was not my own… But I will be there for my team!!! In every way I possibly can,” Griffin tweeted.

There was hope that Griffin would play on Sunday. He threw the ball and worked in individual drills throughout the week but in the end the Redskins have opted to start a healthy Cousins.

Once Griffin left the game, it was Cousins who led the Redskins to an overtime win against Baltimore.

Heading into Sunday, Washington, at 7-6, is one game behind the New York Giants in the NFC East and one game behind the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears for the final wild card spot.
