Jets win with Greg McElroy at QB, Sanchez benched after 3 INT

It is not a good sign for Mark Sanchez. After the quarterback was pulled during a 10-of-21 three interception performance against Arizona, his understudy led the New York Jets to an ugly win.

Greg McElroy was inserted into the game for the Jets following the benching of Sanchez. McElroy got the call into the game as backup Tim Tebow was inactive as he deals with a rib injury.

On the first driver after being inserted into the game the third string led the Jets to a touchdown. His one yard touchdown pass to Jeff Cumberland gave the Jets a 7-3 lead.

Cardinals rookie QB Ryan Lindley was not productive either. He finished the day 10-of-31 for 72 yards and an interception. Arizona only managed five first downs in the game and could score only two field goals against a much maligned and injured Jets defense.

With the win moved the Jets to 5-7 on the season while the Cardinals fell to 4-8.

The Jets entered the game a six point favorite and thus failed to cover the spread.
