Jets finally bench Mark Sanchez, turn to McElroy

The New York Jets benched quarterback Mark Sanchez on Sunday after the fourth year starter struggled against the Arizona Cardinals. It marked the firs time in his career that Sanzhez had been pulled from a game.

Sanchez’s numbers showed a player who just did not have it. On the day he threw three interceptions and completed only 10 of 21 passes for 97 yards. The Jets trailed 3-0 at the time of his benching.

Greg McElroy came into the game for the Jets and made an immediate impact connecting on a 1 yard touchdown pass to Greg Cumberland.

McElroy dressed for the first time because Tim Tebow (fractured ribs) was inactive.

There have been a never ending rift between Sanchez supporters and those who believe the Jets should turn to Tebow.
