Dolphins uncertain about Tannehill after MRI shows bruises

Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin in unsure of the status of quarterback Ryan Tannehill for Week 9. When the rookie left the game with an injury Matt Moore stepped in and Dolphins went on to a 30-9 win.

Speaking at the post game press conference Philbin said he never thought about allowing Tannehill to return against the Jets.

Would the coach let Tannehill play if he was not 100 percent next week?  “You have to make a decision: Can the guy function and do the job asked of him? Either he can do the job or he can’t. You would love the guy to be 100 percent.”

Ryan Tannehill was diagnosed with a left knee bone bruise and a deep thigh bruise after an MRI on Monday.

Philbin was happy about the play of Moore. “I’m happy for him. The guy’s a professional. He’s extremely well respected by the staff and the players in the locker room. I’m not surprised he played well.”

Moore was 11-for-19 with 131 yards and a touchdown.

Surprisingly the Dolphins are 4-3 on the year with a matchup against Indianapolis next week.
