Two people were killed when a small plane crashed into a house in South Bend on Sunday. The victims have been identified as 60-year-old Steve Davis and 58-year-old Wesley Caves both of Tulsa, Okla.<\/p>\n

Davis was part of the Oklahoma Sooners football team in the 1970s. During his time at the teams’ quarterback the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Davis was the quarterback for the first three seasons of head coach Barry Switzer.<\/p>\n

\"davis_helmet4\"Fuel leaking from the plane forced the evacuation of area houses. Two other passengers on the plane survived, one is listed in serious condition while another is listed in fair.<\/p>\n

Reports say that that the plane attempted to land at South Bend Regional Airport at 4:15 pm but had to attempt a second attempt at a landing. Eight minutes later it was reported that the plane had went down.<\/p>\n

The FAA reports<\/a> that the pilot of the plane reported an electrical problem upon the initial approach to the airport.<\/p>\n

One neighbor described her terror as the plane bore down on her home.<\/p>\n

“I was looking out my picture window,” said Mary Jane Klaybor, who lives across the street from the crash site. “This (plane) was coming straight at my house. I went, ‘Huh?’ and then there was a big crash, and all the insulation went flying.”<\/p>\n
