Michigan State linebacker Max Bullough will miss the Rose Bowl game against Stanford after violating team rules.
Spartans coach Mark Dantonio said last Thursday that Bullough had been suspended for the rest of the season. He did not say what rules the two-time team captain violated.
“It is extremely disappointing for all parties involved,” Dantonio said.
Bullough will miss the 100th edition of the Rose Bowl and Michigan State’s first appearance in 26 seasons.
Bullough finished the season with 76 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss.
“We’ve had to climb hills and adversity before,” said Kyler Elsworth, who will work at middle linebcker in Bullough’s absence. “We all have to pick it up and make the best of the situation. We need to fight for 60 minutes.”
Bullough earned third-team All-America honors and first-team All-Big Ten honors this season. He has 299 career tackles and made 40 consecutive starts.
