NC State stuns No. 3 Florida State, 17-16

Florida State allowed North Carolina to stay close and paid dearly for it Saturday night. On fourth down with 16 seconds remaining, NC State quarterback Mike Glennon threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Underwood to upend the third ranked Florida State Seminoles.

The Seminoles led the game by a 16-0 score at halftime but never produced any points in the second half. Mike Rose blocked a punt with just over two minutes left in the game that gave the Wolfpack the ball and a chance to win.

Glennon marched the Wolfpack down the field and completed a pair of fourth-down passes, the second when he found Underwood alone over the middle to tie the game and take the lead on the ensuing point-after kick.

FSU drove near midfield in the final seconds, but the Wolfpack defense knocked down EJ Manuel’s desperation heave near the goal line to end it.

NC State then rushed the field in celebration.

Chris Thompson ran for 115 of his 141 yards in the first half for the Seminoles, while Manuel threw for 218 yards with an interception. Florida State managed just 122 yards after halftime and squandered all three of their timeouts, which proved crucial once the Wolfpack finally pushed in front.
