We will no longer have to hear about the future of Mike D’Antoni with the Los Angeles Lakers. On Wednesday the Lakers coach of the last two seasons resigned according to general manager Mitch Kupchak.

“Given the circumstances, I don’t know that anybody could have done a better job than Mike did the past two seasons,” said Kupchak. “On behalf of the Lakers, we thank Mike for the work ethic, professionalism and positive attitude that he brought to the team every day. We wish him the best of luck.”

Upon taking over for the fired Mike Brown on November 12, 2012, D’Antonio was 67-87 as the head coach of the Lakers.

The Lakers had not picked up his option for the 2015-2016 season which could be the reason he has chosen to resign.
