Minnesota state representative speaks about NBA and street crime, defends talk with drug policy

On Sunday Minnesota state representative Pat Garofalo attacked the NBA and its players.

“Let’s be honest, 70% of teams in NBA could fold tomorrow + nobody would notice a difference w/ possible exception of increase in street crime,” Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, wront on twitter.

Over 1,100 people have sine re-tweeted Garofalo’s message. Many jumped on Garofalo for being racist with his message but he told the Star Tribune that was not what his message was about.

Garofalo says he was “talking about NBA’s high arrest rate and that they are the only major pro league that testing positive for marijuana is not a substance abuse violation.”

“No intent beyond that,” he told the Star Tribune.

NASCAR fans were probably not very happy to read his comments about Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski either….

“My joy in seeing Dale Jr lose the lead running out of gas is tempered by the fact that über-snob Keselowski ends up winning. Bum toke dude.”
