Kyle Larson will drive the No. 42\u00a0 for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing during the 2014 Sprint Cup season but that does not mean that the 21-year-old driver will have to wait till then to see his first action at NASCAR’s top level.<\/p>\n

Larson, a rookie this season in the Nationwide series, and the 2012 K&N Pro Series East Champion will be taking over the No 42 Chevrolet replacing Juan Pablo Montoya.<\/p>\n

Chip Ganassi addressing the media on Friday saying that even though it is not his MO to push anybody out of a car that the plan is to get Larson some seat time yet this season.<\/p>\n

“I think there’s opportunity to get him in the Cup races this year, and were going to take advantage of those opportunities.” Ganassi said.<\/p>\n

EGR is a two car team, and with no intention of pushing Montoya out of the car early one option to get Larson seat time could be with Phoenix Racing.<\/p>\n

Harry Scott, owner at Phoenix Racing and part owner of Turner Scott Motorsports, Larson’s Nationwide team could be willing to put Larson in the No. 51 Chevrolet for at least a couple of races this season.<\/p>\n

Larson will be the first Japanese American driver to compete at NASCAR’s top level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
