SPARTA, Ky — Danica Patrick addressed the media this afternoon at Kentucky Speedway, and it was only a few questions in before she was asked about Kyle Petty’s Thursday comments.<\/p>\n

“It’s funny how he said I can qualify but I can’t race… because those of you who actually watch what I do,\u00a0 would know that I can’t qualify for crap — in the race things go much better, so — that’s a little bit funny.” Patrick said.<\/p>\n

“I keep my team happy, were moving in the right direction — GoDaddy’s happy and when you walk out the garage or around the track and you see a little girl that wants to grow up and be like you your doing something right so — those are the things that feel right.”<\/p>\n

Petty’s comments came from SPEED’s RaceHub on Thursday, he spoke of Patrick saying, “I think she’s come a long way, but she’s still not a race car driver,” he said. “And I don’t think she’s ever going to be a race car driver.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Patrick was asked if she cared about what drivers, or others thought or said about her, in which she replied, “No, I really don’t care. I don’t. It’s true that there are plenty of people that say really bad things about me — I hear about them, or I read them, or I read them on Twitter, People want me to die… I mean the day you just get over that stuff and all you can do is trust that you do a good job and that’s all that matters.”<\/p>\n

Patrick is 27th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings. Her best finish this year was 8th at Daytona, where she qualified on the pole.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
