James Hinchcliffe won the Iowa Corn Indy 250 on Sunday finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay. Hinchcliffe was one of four drivers who took a turn at the front of the field and when the race was over it was the mayor of “Hinchtown” who was standing in victory lane with his third win of the season.<\/p>\n

Hinchcliffe led all but 24 of the 250 lap race in Newtown, IA. Sunday’s win is Hinchcliffe’s first win on an oval. He becomes the first three time winner this season.<\/p>\n

“We have a great track record here but this year with so many different things and a day race everything was different” said Hinchcliffe after the race. “Guys on the stand called it perfect.”<\/p>\n

Hinchliffe moved up five point spots and trails Helio Castroneves by 66 points. Castroneves is 9 points ahead of Hunter-Raey in the IndyCar point standings.<\/p>\n
