In his last two outings he&#8217;s gone 10.1 innings and has allowed just 2 earned runs on 12 hits with 11 strike outs and a walk.<\/p>\n<p>Olsen looked utterly confused three outings ago against Detroit and looked like he was facing a release.<\/p>\n<p>Olsen&#8217;s performance today against a lineup of Red Sox regulars (5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 7 K, 1 BB) was a much needed for the left handers chances of staying with the Nats.<\/p>\n<p>But was it enough for him to crack the rotation?<\/p>\n<p>The way Olsen has turned things around may be bad news for Garret Mock who had originally been named to the rotation by manager Jim Riggleman.<\/p>\n<p>Mock may be better used in a reliever role then that of a starter and considering he&#8217;s allowed 8 earned runs over his last 9.2 innings the reality is he&#8217;s giving the Nationals plenty of reasons to pull him out of the rotation.<\/p>\n<p>An official decision from the Nationals is expected over the weekend.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"float:right;margin-left:5px\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scott Olsen has finally began to show the form that made him a key cog of the Marlins rotation from 2006-2008.
