Danica Patrick is starting her first full season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series driving for Stewart Haas Racing. She ran a full Nationwide series finishing in the top ten in series points and a ten race Cup schedule in 2012.<\/p>\n

The biggest headline coming into the 2013 racing season hasn’t involved racing at all, but Patrick’s love life. Patrick, two weeks ago, confirmed the rumors that she was dating fellow driver, Ricky Stenhouse Jr were indeed true and the racing world has been abuzz.<\/p>\n

Tony Stewart has the great job of fielding Patrick’s No.10 GoDaddy Chevrolet, so the number of questions he has received regarding Patrick’s love life has been many.<\/p>\n

Patrick in her Daytona 500 qualifying run<\/a>, made the pole on Thursday becoming the first woman to do so in the history of Sprint Cup.\u00a0 Her teammate Ryan Newman had a good run, as did Stewart.<\/p>\n

The pole winning has taken some of the attention off of Patrick’s love life and put it back on racing and the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n

” That’s a huge accomplishment.\u00a0 It’s not like it’s been 15 or 20 years she’s been trying to do this.\u00a0 It’s her second trip to Daytona here in a Cup car.\u00a0 She’s made history in the sport.\u00a0 That’s stuff that we’re proud of being a part of with her.\u00a0 It’s something she should have a huge amount of pride in.” Stewart said.<\/p>\n

The team at Stewart Haas work great together and get along well, when Stewart was asked about the chemistry the team has after Patrick’s pole he replied with, “This will probably be a sound byte for you guys”<\/p>\n

“I think Danica has two boyfriends, she has Ricky and she has Tony Gibson.\u00a0 They are all but holding hands in the shop when they’re there every day together. \u00a0 It’s good for me to see as an owner.\u00a0 I like to see that chemistry that you’re talking about.
\nRyan is happy being back with Matt.\u00a0 Tony and Danica are happy.\u00a0 I’m happy with Steve.\u00a0 That’s something that having three teams that the drivers and crew chiefs are getting along, happy to be paired up where they’re at, that’s something that goes a long way.”<\/p>\n

Patrick and Gibson started working together at the end of the 2012 season. He was her crew chief for the final two of the ten Cup races she ran. In those two races, Patrick had her best two finishes out of her season. She earned a 24th place finish at Texas and a 17th place finish at Phoenix.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
