Nicknamed &#8220;Awesome Bill from Dawsonville&#8221; Elliott\u00a0was a popular driver though the 80&#8217;s and 90&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>While Elliott stopped being a weekly competitor he had no qualms about getting into a car for an underfunded team in recent years in order to guarantee them a starting spot in a field.
