The move, which was first announced on Tuesday in the Tennessean, will drop Dover International Speedway to one Cup Series race in 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to the collaboration of Dover Motorsports and our broadcast partners, we are excited to bring NASCAR racing back to Nashville, a place where the passion for our sport runs deep,\u201d NASCAR President Steve Phelps said in a release. \u201cThe Nashville market is a vital one for our sport, and bringing NASCAR Cup Series racing to Nashville Superspeedway will be an integral building block in helping us further deliver on our promise in creating a dynamic schedule for 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n
NASCAR has not run an event at Nashville since 2011 with those events run between 2001 and 2011 consisting of Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and Xfinity Series races. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Austin Dillon,\u00a0 and Reed Sorenson are among active drivers who have previously won at Nashville in the Xfinity or Truck Series.<\/p>\n
The Nashville market continues to penetrated by NASCAR who held their end of year Awards banquet and Champions week activities there last December.<\/p>\n
