{"id":22143,"date":"2019-09-16T10:32:02","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T14:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/?p=22143"},"modified":"2019-09-16T10:32:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T14:32:02","slug":"garrett-smithley-defends-his-driving-ability-at-las-vegas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/2019\/09\/16\/garrett-smithley-defends-his-driving-ability-at-las-vegas\/","title":{"rendered":"Garrett Smithley defends his driving ability at Las Vegas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22145\" src=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/files\/2019\/09\/buschsmithley.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"546\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/files\/2019\/09\/buschsmithley.jpg 546w, http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/files\/2019\/09\/buschsmithley-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kyle Busch was not happy with the way the South Point 400 ended on Sunday night at Las Vegas Motor Speeday.<\/p>\n<p>Busch was upset with contact he made with the No. 52 Rick Ware Racing car driven by Garrett Smithely which saw Busch fade from fourth to 19th in the closing laps of the race.<\/p>\n<p>Following the race Busch questioned why guys who had never won late model races were competing in the top level of NASCAR and quipped that his <a href=\"http:\/\/tireball.com\/nascar\/2019\/09\/16\/kyle-busch-upset-after-running-into-garrett-smithley-in-closing-laps-at-las-vegas\/\">(insurance) premiums just went up<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zack Albert of NASCAR.com asked Smithley about Busch&#8217;s comments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s never been in the position we\u2019ve been in, so he doesn\u2019t know how that goes.
