Austin Dillon is on the pole for Sunday’s running of the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. The pole comes a day after NASCAR took the deck lid of the No. 3 car.<\/p>\n

The first race without a restrictor plate in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is set to take place at the 2.66 mile track.<\/p>\n

Sunday’s race will consist of 188 laps with FOX and MRN carrying coverage beginning at 2:00 pm ET. The first stage will end on lap 55 while the second ends on lap 110.<\/p>\n

Joey Logano won this event a year ago while Aric Almirola won the fall event.<\/p>\n
