Smith most recently spent time in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports but was not given a new deal to continue driving for the team.<\/p>\n
Toy State’s Nikko RC and Road Rippers will be the sponsor of the No. 7 car for much of the 2016 season.<\/p>\n
“This is a really great time for us,” said team owner, Tommy Baldwin. “Having a driver with Regan’s credentials further elevates our program. He’s a seasoned driver and a proven race winner. We’re really looking forward to 2016.” A native of Cato, NY, Smith is equally as eager to get the season started. “This has been a crazy few days, but I’m really excited that we were able to put this together,” he said. “I have a ton of respect for Tommy and what he’s built there. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Our son Rhett turns one next month, so I’ll be putting in my request for some Road Rippers cars. That’s a pretty good perk too!”<\/p>\n
The career highlight of Smith came in 2011 as he won the Southern 500 at Darlington.<\/p>\n
In order to make room for Smith the one car team had to part ways with last year’s driver Alex Bowman.<\/p>\n
