Aric Almirola will drive an STP themed No. 43 Ford Fusion this weekend at Darlington Raceway. Almirola’s car will look just like the car that was driven by Richard Petty in 1972.<\/p>\n

Back in 1972, STP debuted on The King’s car making one of the most memorable driver-sponsorship combinations in NASCAR history.<\/p>\n

“When you think throwback racing, you think STP and ‘The King’,” said Almirola. “It’s really special to drive a car with so much history and such an iconic car of that time. The 1972 paint scheme was very popular, and it will be really cool to drive in a race that embraces the history of our sport.”<\/p>\n

Just as Almirola will drive a throwback so too will RPM teammate Sam Hornish Jr. Hornish will have sponsorship from Winn Dixie which was a familiar sponsor of Mark Martin during his days driving in the Xfinity Series.
