Penalty to Hamlin’s team for lost ballast announced

Penalties steaming from the loss of ballast from the No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry driven by Denny Hamlin have been announced.

Hamlin lost ballast from his car during the pace laps of Sunday’s running of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

NASCAR has announced penalties to the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team for violation of Infraction Safety Section 12.5.2.7.4.d Minimum Safety Penalty Options Note: Loss or separation of added ballast from the vehicle Penalty/Remarks Crew Chief (Chris Gabehart), Car Chief (Brandon Griffeth), Engineer (Scott Simmons) has been suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series points events, through June 10, 2020.

Hamlin lost eight laps at the start of the race due to the mishap. JGR will not appeal the penalty.
