Matt Kenseth won Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Richmond International Raceway.
The final race before the Chase starts saw the driver of the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry claim a trip to victory lane in the Federated Auto Parts 400.
Joey Logano began the race on the pole but Matt Kenseth was the car to beat. Kenseth was the class of the field for much of the night while his Joe Gibbs Racing teammates also spent time towards the front of the field. Denny Hamlin showed no ill effects of his torn ACL keeping his car inside the top-five for much of the night.
The latter part of the race saw the No. 43 of Aric Almirola charge up though the field only to fall short of a win and a Chase spot. Almirola’s misfortune was to the delight of Paul Menard who makes the Chase for the first time in his career.
Kenseth led 352 of the 400 laps in wining his fourth race of the season and three of the last six. It is his second win at Richmond in his career.
