Brendan Gaughan won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Road America on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the No. 62 Cheverolet Camaro led 8 of 54 laps on Saturday crossing the start finish line ahead of a hard charging Alex Tagliani.
The Gardner Dever 200 fired up by Johnsonville began with Alex Tagliani on the pole. Rain would delay the start of the race and later forced teams to switch to rain tires.
Tagliani would lead 20 laps but would run out of gas on a caution which came out prior to one to go. From there it became a question of who would make it on fuel and make the right moves with Brendan Gaughn and Chase Elliott beginning a green white checkered in first and second.
Elliott blew by Gaughn on the restart but Gaughn got back by him with two to go. With one to go they were joined by Kevin O’Connell in a battle for the lead. Alex Tagiani made a late charge but it was no enough as Gaughan took the checkers.
