Following Sunday evenings race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, there was  significant movement in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. Six drivers are now locked into the Chase, while another six will earn entry following Saturday night’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

So who are the winners and losers following Atlanta?

Winners:

Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch ensured he will begin the Chase no lower than the second seed with his fourth victory at Atlanta this weekend. Only Matt Kenseth has more wins (5), and he is tied with Jimmie Johnson.

Joey Logano

Joey Logano is 16 points ahead of Jeff Gordon who is sitting 11th after Atlanta. Logano has put himself in a great position for the Chase, as he is now 25 points ahead of Martin Truex Jr. for the second Wild Card spot. With one race to go, he has almost ensured his spot in the Chase bearing unforeseen issues at Richmond.

Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch are all locked into the Chase.

Kurt Busch

Kurt Busch is up two positions from last weekend, sitting 10th place in the points. Busch doesn’t have a win, so he can’t depend on the Wild Card – but with a good running at Richmond he could see himself in the Chase. He is 6 points ahead of Jeff Gordon who is  in 11th, and he also does not have a win.

Losers:

Greg Biffle

Greg Biffle sits 9th in the points, and although he has one win he is only 23 points ahead of Martin Truex Jr. for the second WC position. Richmond and Biffle do not get along very well, so he is going to have to strive for a great finish at a track that pains him in order to hold a position in the Chase.

Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski is our biggest loser this week, but how can he not be? Keselowski is last seasons Sprint Cup Series Champ…and this year, he is sitting 15th in the points with no wins. He lost four positions at Atlanta alone after dealing with engine issues late in the race. Maybe there is still hope for Brad, but this is his last week to sneak into the finals.
