This weekend both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series are headed to Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, NY. The Sprint Cup series will take part in the Cheez-It 355, while the Nationwide series runs the Zippo 200. Watkins Glen is a 2.45-mile paved road course, with 11 turns and a variety of banking in turns ranging from 6 degrees to 10 degrees.

Cars attempting to qualify will be divided into groups. The number of groups, and amount of cars in each, will depend on the number of cars that practice for the event.
· Group assignments will be based on final practice times.
· Each qualifying group will be on-track for a set period of time, determined by the Series Director.
· A car’s best lap time during the group session will be the qualifying lap time of record.
· A group’s time begins when the first car receives the green flag at the start/finish line.

Friday: Rain is possible in Watkins Glen on Friday when cars would be on track for practice. There is a 50% chance of rain at 12pm, decreasing to 30% until 6pm. Temperatures will be in the mid, to high 70’s.

Saturday: Saturday should see partly cloudy skies, with only a small chance of rain (10%). Temperatures will be in the high 70’s. Qualifying should be safe from any showers.

Sunday: The Sprint Cup race on Sunday should see clear skies and no rain, with temperatures in the high 70’s.
