Bobby Labonte will be behind the wheel of the Phoenix Racing No.51 Chevrolet this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. The agreement was reached after Labonte spoke with and received approvals from officials with JTG/Daugherty Racing and Toyota Racing Development.
Labonte has 14 previous starts for Phoenix Racing and will be making his 705th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend.

Labonte thinks racing for a new team will help him understand the development of the new car and how it compares to his current ride at JTG/Daugherty Racing.
“I’m not happy with our current performance level as a team and absolutely want to work hard to help our race team improve. My commitment continues to give the best efforts possible each weekend.” Labonte said.
Labonte does not have a contract for next season but hopes to continue with JTG/Daugherty Racing.
“I want to see this team get better and will do what I need to do to make that happen.” Labonte said.
